They were approaching the library. Jason didn’t particularly want to be in there, after what had happened, but it did make sense that the school newspaper would have operated out of there.
"That’s all it takes?" Sarah’s tone was dubious. "I got directly attacked by two different monsters in two weeks and I still had to drag it out of you!"
"Well, aside from her, who else have you told?"
Sarah raised an eyebrow at him, then her face split into a slight smile. Jason looked back at her, unsure of what she was supposed to be so happy about. “What?”
"You trust me," Sarah teased.
"About as far as I can throw you," Jason admitted. "Which is more than most people, I guess."
"You trust me!” She sang, skipping ahead. “Youlikeme!”
"I wouldn’t go that far," Jason snorted.
"I bet you’re actually not caught up on homework because you sit at home every night, sewing together friendship bracelets." Sarah taunted, sweeping around with her arm as she pulled the library door open for him. "In fact, if I opened up your notebook, I bet I’d find ‘Jason plus Sarah equal BFFS’ scrawled all over the cover."
